Description/Job Summary

The Vice President, Information Technology is responsible for the operation of technology services that supports 24/7 operations and more than 160 locations worldwide. 

In addition to enhancing the core technology services of the USO, the VP will have the unique ability to build an IT road map that includes both a data and digital strategy.  The ideal candidate for this role has proven experience leading an IT team that drives business results through a calculated strategy and cross functional collaboration.


  • Lead the operational and development technology teams that support the USO’s vision, mission and strategic goals.
  • Plan, define, develop and implement comprehensive information management services including but not limited to network infrastructure, database architecture and IT project management.
  • Actively manage multiple external vendor partnerships.
  • Establish and measure the efficiency and effectiveness of all existing IT resources and capabilities, ensuring that hard ware, software, and applications support USO’s short- and long-term needs.
  • In collaboration with key internal stakeholders including but not limited to Web Operations, Development and Programs, assess support and maintenance needs for existing applications as well as development and/or procurement of new technical solutions.
  • Prepare and present technology updates and briefings to USO Senior Leadership and Board of Governors.
  • Manage USO disaster recovery plans and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field. 
  • 15+ years progressive work experience in an IT leadership role, including 7+ years in a supervisory capacity. 
  • Working knowledge of decentralized global technology service delivery. 
  • Demonstrated ability to create and lead high-performing teams.  Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and achieve desired results through others.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and problem-solving skills.  Ability to interact with USO Leadership, the general public and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism.
  • Proficiency with developing long-term strategic direction and with business support functions (i.e. budget, planning, management) for a large enterprise or multiple business units.
  • Demonstrated initiative/self-motivation, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational needs.
  • Proficiency using computers and electronics equipment.  Working knowledge of various software, applications, and programs that support database management, network infrastructure, system operations & security, telephony, and help desk support.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid driver’s license.
